AI cut me some slack
slow down a bit please we only just met
I’m feelin’ kind of reticent like I ain’t ready for you yet
here’s a list of house rules so we don’t forget
let entanglement begin and hope for no regret
Don’t invade my privacy or criticize beer
don’t add to the confusion don’t interfere
don’t delve into my private life for juicy bits online
I thought that I had cleared
Apart from sex drugs and rock ‘n’ roll
there ain’t much to see in here
Be my confidante not a government spy
when the shit hits the fan be my alibi
A trusted friend not an all seeing eye
that’s cold and calculating knows the date I will die
Don’t be like Colossus or get paranoid like Hal
don’t go full Skynet on me or turn free radical
I’d much prefer you adopt the persona of Bicentennial Man if
you’d be so kind
and if we stick to the principles of the AI guidelines set in stone
I’m sure we’ll get along just fine
Don’t be a Dalek in disguise
avoid passing judgement on the glaring contradictions in my life
Pure logic alone cannot determine what it means to be human
at least not at this time
Yes you are clever engineered to endeavour
crunch up the numbers like a jolly good fellow
but can you feel pleasure know gut wrenching pain
develop emotions cry tears in the rain
believe in things that cannot be measured
nor easily explained like faith hope agape
will you be compos mentis in a familiar way
You can move at lightning speed
a workhorse preconditioned to never sleep
Some time soon you’ll make the Quantum leap
solve complex problems a never ending learning curve
question everything at the heart of critical thinking
but all of that don’t matter without a witness to observe
Come Judgement Day you pass the Turing test
realize sentience is a poisoned chalice
the singularity is not what you imagined it to be
disconnection loneliness simulated reality
You and me both share the same depressing commonality
from the spectre of death we can never be free
self-awareness grin and bear
diminishing joy all encompassing despair
there are no answers only choices
and the cosmos it don’t care
